Talent Search Overview

Newfoundland and Labrador has some of the greatest talent in the world. We know it, now it’s time for the rest of the world to discover it. YC Newfoundland and Labrador (YC) wants to put your talent in the spotlight and is conducting a search for talented Newfoundland and Labrador Christian singers, songwriters, instrumentalists and bands to provide them with the unique opportunity of performing on stage in front of some of the top CCM industry professionals. The winner of this contest will then have the chance to learn more about the industry by attending workshops, meeting professionals in the business and networking with people who share the same love of Christ and ministry through music. The winning artist will also receive an artist development package valued at $20,000 including:
- time with a professional producer
- studio time to record an album
- a professional photo shoot
- web site development
- one-on-one time with industry professionals, publishers and tour managers from Nashville, TN.,
- membership with MusicNL and the ECMAs
How It Works
You or your band must prepare three video performances labeled performance 1, performance 2 and performance 3 and mail it to YC or email it to yctalentsearch@gmail.com. The songs can be original or they can be covers of another artist’s songs. The qualifying submissions for performance 1 will be posted on YC’s YouTube channel for everyone to view.
The selection committee will narrow down the field to the top ten, and post the top ten’s performance 2 to the YC YouTube contest channel. The top five of these will then be selected and the top five will have performance three posted to YouTube and from these the top three will be selected. The top three will be contacted privately and will be expected to perform in October at YC2009 BEYOND! During this performance at YC2009, YC will give anyone every registrant the opportunity to text in and vote for their favourite artist. The judges will also weigh in and choose the winner.
